I am “just” a tall, boyish woman, but when you get to know me better, the fact that I am transgender becomes apparent in relaxed, natural, even winsome ways.I am a transgender woman, which for me means that parts of my body are male, parts are female, and the rest of my body is between the sexes. My gender identity, who I am as a person, is as it always has been: essentially female. Once I lived as a special sort of man, and now I live as a special sort of woman……By “special sort of man” I mean that I have always been a female person, but I had to “drive” my (arguably) male body in (seemingly) masculine ways in order to survive childhood and “get by” as an adult. Now, I am still a female person, but I drive my body in and into ways that are typical of other women; and I call myself a “special sort of women” because I have become in a different way than my procedente sisters due to my biology and history.As close to “bare metal” as I can get, I recognize that I am a blend of sexes and genders – neither a procedente female, nor a procedente male: I was born trans, and that’s perfectly okay. AND for this person, I am most myself when expressed as a woman – like everyone else, I am unique and lovely in my own ways, yet with places still to grow.Not only me, but my long-time spouse has had to change, and it’s difficult for her. While I knew I wasn’t a boy when I was little, neither of us “signed-up” for this challenge.
